Save the Irony, FT Gets the Future of Mediakidmercury | 09 March, 2006 16:31 Fred Wilson gives us this quote from Financial Times CEO Tom Glocer: First, media companies need to be “seeders of clouds”. To have access to high-value new content, we need to attract a community around us. To achieve that we have to produce high-quality content ourselves, then display it and let people interact with it. If you attract an audience to your content and build a brand, people will want to join your community. This is as true for traditional “letters to the editor” as for MySpace.com. That's from an interview on FT.com, that, ironically enough, requires registration. Save the irony, it's clear that FT gets it. comments

The fact that they make you register prove it.
The subcontext of Glocer's comments is that the Old Media will open up--as long as they can keep control. That's not getting it. That's trying to act like they get it so that they can hold on to what they're losing.
