Yahoo Flips the Script on Its Media Strategykidmercury | 02 March, 2006 09:22 Cheers for Yahoo! I had faith they'd come through. Fred Wilson points to a New York Times article (registration required -- or not) that states that Yahoo is changing its media strategy. Key quote: Indeed, Mr. Braun said yesterday that the way to keep users on Yahoo's site longer — and thus be able to show them more advertising — was to offer ways they can create their own content and look at content created by others. Bingo! Yahoo hits the jackpot on that one. But wait, there's more -- a quote from a Yahoo executive: The Internet is such a niche content environment that the broadcast model does not really work. Oh baby! Is that hot or what? So the vision is getting clearer for Yahoo. Although in my opinion the key, as I recently stated, is still in reconstructing that user-generated content into something dynamic and meaningful. That will revolutionize media production, and will lead to a tectonic shift in the role of search in navigating the web. commentsWhat is this blog?Hello, I call myself Kid Mercury.
