Can Steve Jobs Chill With Mickey Mouse?kidmercury | 06 February, 2006 10:03 John Hagel has a great post on Disney/Pixar/Jobs scenario in which he explains why Jobs might not be the best fit for Disney. Hagel violates the most important piece of blogging advice in the history of mankind, so in an attempt to remedy that, here is a key quote: Jobs is a product guy at a time when media products need to become platforms. Media products need to become platforms; the product itself needs to be commoditized, and instead used as a tool to create relationships. Jobs shows many signs of being a true craftsman, and his insistence upon controlling the Apple value chain and not really seeing how his tools can empower the value chains of other companies is a perfect sign of this. While I agree with Hagel that the Jobs/Pixar/Disney relationship is potentially quite problematic, Jobs' brilliance can't be denied, and he may be one of the few entrepreneurs who is capable of achieving greater profits from focusing on repeatedly launching daring new innovations with a high risk/reward rather than seeing how value from existing innovations can be optimized and restructured when needed. commentsWhat is this blog?Hello, I call myself Kid Mercury.
