ActoMistake: Compromising the Conversationkidmercury | 30 March, 2006 18:29
As element #1 of revenue generation for ActoGuitar, I had thought
affiliate marketing was the way to go. While I do believe affiliate
marketing could be executed quite well in the context of a forum, I
think it ultimately requires too much control over the forum's
conversation; it requires a singular personality, not a debating community. It's the age old
problem with forums -- advertiser influence threatens freedom of speech
in community -- but I'm just now realizing it.
Sadly, it seems as though I must swallow all pride and accept AdSense as element #1 of of revenue generation for ActoGuitar. The site will now be AdsensifiedTM, and I will join the ranks of others indulging in Webmaster WelfareTM. The AdSense game is also considerably easier, and hence is a great way for me to get capital to finance future initiatives. The falling cost of production, coupled with the AdSense phenomenon, is going to drastically change the way corporate finance exists. But I digress -- back to my mistake. For me, the lesson here is the very real strength of online community spirit. It's sensitive -- put the wrong conditions forth, and it absolutely will not blossom -- but if you emphasize the truth above all things, it will prove to be perhaps the most sustainable competitive advantage there is. commentsWhat is this blog?Hello, I call myself Kid Mercury.
