Writing a Link Request Email

If you have a web site that you're promoting chances are you have both received and sent a link request email -- i.e. an email to a site requesting a link back to yours. And if by chance you haven't received or sent such an email...well, it is only a matter of time.

In any event, check out this very useful post over at Stuntdubl.com. Here's the most important quote:

Create relationships with your link partners. Dont’ try to screw them over with a smash and grab job. Asking for a link is asking to do business.

Note the choice of words: think of the person you're requesting a link from as a link partner, not just some random site linking to you. For both branding and search marketing reasons, you want to be associated with quality sites -- just as you naturally want to partner with reputable people and entities.
